In a world where many start journeys but few complete them, the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe’s (IIZ) recent graduation ceremony stands as a beacon of achievement within the Zimbabwe insurance industry. Over 1 000 candidates embarked on the journey, with 75% successfully completing the program – a statistic that speaks volumes about the dedication of these professionals. The commissioner of insurance in Zimbabwe, Dr. Grace Muradzikwa represented by Mrs. Mary Takavarasha congratulated the graduates noting that the completion of this journey reflects perseverance, handwork and a deep desire coupled with personal dedication to continuously learn and grow professionally.

This achievement reflects not only personal determination but also the encouragement of families, mentors, employers, and colleagues who walked this journey alongside the graduates. The Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe continues to play a central role in building the professional backbone of the insurance industry, offering qualifications structured across multiple levels of professional development. “IIZ qualifications are designed to produce graduates who guide strategy, influence markets and decision making,” says the institute’s president, Clementine Chinyuku.

Clementine emphasized how the institute values strategic partnerships to ensure professional standards are enhanced. “The institute’s collaborations with local universities have strengthened academic integrity, reinforced quality assurance, and ensured professional training remains aligned with global standards.” As Zimbabwe prides itself on its strong educational heritage, institutions like the IIZ are crucial in elevating knowledge, competence, and professional credibility.

The graduation ceremony underscored a collective commitment to professional excellence, with industry leaders, educators, and students united in one room. The graduates’ accomplishments mark the beginning of greater responsibility, as they step into an industry undergoing profound transformation driven by technology and evolving consumer expectations.

“Continuous professional development must become a lifelong commitment,” says the IIZ General Manager, Davison Choeni, encouraging graduates to remain curious, innovative, and courageous. The acting commissioner called on leaders within the industry to strengthen platforms for mentoring, training, and capacity building, ensuring the next generation of professionals is nurtured effectively.

Congratulations to the IIZ class of 2025 and may the knowledge you have gained empower you to serve with excellence, integrity and a collective purpose to meaningfully transform the insurance industry in Zimbabwe and beyond.
